OEM / private label process

Export workflow (summary)

  1. Initial enquiry & requirement alignment: You share the model reference (or photo/tech pack), target market, and quantity range.
  2. Material & construction confirmation: We confirm the leather/material options (subject to availability), lining, hardware, measurements, and branding placement.
  3. Sampling & revisions (where applicable): A sample is prepared for review so the buyer can approve look, feel, and specification before bulk planning.
  4. Bulk production planning: Model codes, colors, packaging, and labeling requirements are organized to reduce mix-ups in bulk orders.
  5. Quality checks during production: In-process checks focus on stitching, finishing, and branding placement against the approved reference.
  6. Packing, labeling & shipment coordination: Packing follows buyer instructions (individual packing, labels, carton marks). Export documents are prepared and shipment handover is coordinated with the buyer/forwarder.

Leather goods manufacturing for global importers

Finding a dependable leather goods manufacturer in India is one of the biggest challenges for international importers. The market is full of suppliers who overpromise and underdeliver — incorrect materials, missed deadlines, poor finishing. We built our process specifically to address these pain points.

At Leather Crafts International, every order starts with a detailed specification confirmation. You tell us the leather type, colour, dimensions, branding method, and packaging requirements. We confirm what is feasible, what is not, and where alternatives might work better. This happens before any money changes hands, before any sample is produced. The result is fewer surprises during production and fewer revision cycles that eat into your timeline.

Our manufacturing base is in Kolkata — part of India's Eastern leather corridor, where tanneries, hardware suppliers, and skilled artisans operate in close proximity. This concentration means shorter material procurement times, easier quality oversight, and competitive pricing without cutting corners on genuine leather or construction quality.

Who works with us

Our typical buyers include Amazon and Shopify sellers launching private-label leather accessories, wholesale distributors building seasonal assortments for boutique retailers, corporate gift companies sourcing branded wallets and card holders for employee or client programs, and established brands adding leather goods to their existing product lines without building in-house manufacturing capability.

Whether you are in New York, London, Berlin, Dubai, or Sydney — the process is the same. You share your product requirement, we confirm feasibility, produce a sample for your approval, execute bulk production against the approved reference, and ship FOB or CIF from Kolkata port. Clear documentation, realistic timelines, no hidden costs.

Materials we use — genuine leather only

We work exclusively with 100% genuine leather. Every wallet, card holder, and bag we produce uses real leather sourced from approved tanneries in the Kolkata region. We do not offer synthetic, PU, or imitation leather alternatives.

The leather type, thickness, and finish depend on the product design and the buyer's requirements. Common options include full-grain cow leather for premium wallets that develop character over time, top-grain cow leather for a uniform finish at a competitive price point, goat leather for women's wallets and accessories where a softer hand feel is important, and buffalo leather for bags and products that need a heavier, more rugged character.

Finishes range from natural aniline to semi-aniline, pigmented, pull-up, nubuck, and suede. Vegetable-tanned leather is available for buyers who need it for specific product positioning. Colour matching is done against Pantone references or physical swatches during the sampling stage.

How ordering works — from enquiry to delivery

For first-time buyers

Start with a trial order of 50–100 units. This lets you evaluate our leather quality, construction standards, packing precision, and communication reliability without a large financial commitment. The trial order goes through the full OEM process — sampling, approval, production, inspection, and export — so you see exactly what repeat orders will look like.

Most first orders take 6–8 weeks from enquiry to shipment, including sampling time. Repeat orders are faster (4–5 weeks) because the specification and sample reference are already established.

For repeat buyers

Reorders are placed by model code, colour, and quantity. We maintain your approved samples and packing specifications as permanent references. Production scheduling is faster because materials and construction details are already confirmed. Many of our repeat buyers order quarterly, timed to their seasonal inventory cycles.

Volume pricing improves with commitment — buyers ordering 500+ units per cycle see meaningful per-unit cost reductions compared to trial order pricing.
